I changed the loader.conf file now freenas panic's ..

something like sambulla.... on 3 can't remember exactly. Anyways I do have a backup of my conf file but i don't know how to change or replace the loader.conf file that is loading now with the .BAK file.
I would have to change it back to it's original name and i can't access it.

any ideas....

I tried booting to the OK prompt but i don't see any options to access the file or change it's name.
I really don't want to redo the entire NAS as i have over 1 TB of files on it.

When you see the FreeNAS boot menu, pick the option for single-user mode. Once you have a prompt you might have to "mount -a -o rw" before you can edit loader.conf.

Have had the same problem just did a new install of my usb stick and all was back again.

Frank thankyou so much I did exactly what you said and everything came back. Appreciate it. I still have the losing connection issue though.. basically when copying files over freenas disconnects after awhile i have tried so many solutions that i give up.

I had a similar problem. When i copied large files the copie jobs starts to pause for a while ( about half a minute ) and then it continues.
Sometimes I had to reconnect. This was al related to older/slower harddrives.

I installed 4 new drives and all was running smoothly.
