SOLVED How to query AD for user's real name?

When the FreeNAS is joined to AD, I don't have to authenticate as "domain\user" ... just an AD username works by itself. What doesn't work is a local username.

What would be the syntax for "local user" in that situation? Would it be ".\user" ?

ldapsearch -Q -LLL cn=[someUser] givenname sn
