I would like to forward TrueNas alarms/messages to my GrayLog server in order to notice Issues and to understand why things are sometimes not working.
That should be simple via menu system/advanced/Syslog ...... but it is not working.
So what is wrong / what am I doing wrong. A few points:
- syslogd is not running (service syslogd onestatus => syslogd is not running) after configuring the advanced menu item
- in line with that, I do not see messages arriving on my graylog system
- Since the truenas system has multiple IP-addresses, it is strange to me that you do not have to define the IP-address to use
- in the service menu there is a SNMP server, which could be related. Starting that service (without configuring any thing), did not start systlogd
Hopefully someone can explain which actions to take / give some comments on the points raised above
