One of my test boxes has 4 crummy old IDE drives in a mirrored zpool and a fairly new 2TB SATA drive which I use for backing up other systems. The 2TB is labelled (with glabel) and UFS formatted without any partitioning ("newfs /dev/label/thelabel"). I'd like to import the 2TB into FreeNAS as-is but haven't quite managed it.
After trying various other ways of doing this (including the GUI, which mostly seems to want to wipe the drive before doing anything else) I ended up sticking a mount of /dev/ada4 into /conf/base/etc/fstab, since the geom label didn't show up.
The remaining problem I have is with the GUI. It keeps flashing the red alert and telling me:
even though it's working fine for me.
So, many questions remain, but the main one is: how do I import this volume, which was written by FreeBSD, into FreeNAS?
