I'm trying to install FreeNAS to USB stick... using Mac
1. I downloaded "FreeNAS-8.0.4-RELEASE-p2-x64.img.xz"
2. I checked the sha256
3. I used Keka to extract the xz -- funny thing is it create an ".img" file, NOT an extension-less file ... is this normal?
4. Erased stick with Disk Utility as 1 partition of free space
5. Used dd from terminal "dd if=FreeNAS-8.0.4-RELEASE-p2-x64.img of=/dev/disk2 bs=64k" - took a while
6. Put stick in NAS and booted.
I get these errors:
GEOM: da0: the primary GPT table is corrupt or invalid
GEOM: da0: using the secondary instead -- recovery strongly advised.
Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ufs/FreeNASs1a
ROOT MOUNT ERROR:
If you have invalid mount options, ..... etc...
Loader variables:
vfs.root.mountfrom=ufs:/dev/ufs/FreeNASs1a
vfs.root.mountfrom.options=ro
...
mountroot>
