Hello,

I am a new user of FreeNAS. I've got my server set up and everything seems to be working correctly with NIS authentication and permissions, but it seems that after I enable NIS, the server takes a lot longer to boot, and hangs at "starting dbus". I don't see any complaints in any of the logs.

Is there any obvious reason that this could be?

Thanks,
Bill

Do you have alot of users? That sounds like it's retrieving all of the applicable information for authentication and such. Is your directory server overworked? Is there network activity while the machine is "starting dbus"?

Nice server name.. haha.

None of that seems to be an indicator of a problem.

What's your server specs?

Ok, so I have a brand new ixSystems server. Xeon E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz, 32 GB RAM, 4x4TB disks.

I didn't check the network throughput, but I will next time i reboot it, but there directory server is local for our lab, and generally, ypcat et.al. against the server are essentially instantaneous.

Also, the only user of this server right now is me, as I am still copying old data in.
