I'm Yuan, I live in Virginia, USA. I have entered into an adventure trying to build a server, which I know little about. I am taking things one step at a time. I started this project thinking it would be an easy task...not so, I find out. So I started reading about FreeNAS and started building a server with a few parts I had lying around. The more I read the more difficult this process seems, but I am not giving up, and I hope that this forum will educate me. Thank you, in advance, for your patience with me. Regards. Y
Sorry, should have added. I'm starting with an Intel X79 knock-off Mobo with an E5-2680 ver.1 8-core @ 2.7 Gh. I put 2x16 GiB Black Diamond ECC memory in it. It is currently in its 100+ hour of memtest86 without errors. Will follow up with CPU stress test and add Intel Pro 1000 PT dual port NIC card and 120Gib SSD card as boot drive. Saving up my $ for twin 10T WD NAS drives. Regards. Y
