I've looked at FreeNAS in the past and finally decided I'd better make an account. I work for the medical side of a clinic and work regularly with the IT team. I have a very old Buffalo Terastation with Windows 2008 Storage Server on it, and 4x2TB drives in a RAID5 array. It has an Atom D510 and it serves files, but that's about it. The D510 has a Passmark of 692, so not much can be expected of it.
Ideally, I'm hoping to replace this with something with considerably more power. I'd like to run a file server, a Plex Jail to stream to my AppleTV Plex app and also a light distro with Pi-Hole on it for whole home Wi-Fi ad filtering. I've read many of the Will it FreeNAS posts and appreciate all the comments, and will read plenty more.
