Hello, and thank you for your time!
In regards of my tests, it seems that my affirmation is correct, but I havent't found anything in the documentation nor the forum to confirm or destroy my theory. So, if you have any information on this, please help.
Can you acces your freenas FTP server if you are on a different subnet? Will Freenas respond? Before you ask, yes, NAT is fine. Both port 21 and the passive port range is forwarded. It has worked before, but the request were going trough a pfsense firewall that was changing the source address so that the source address would seem like it was on the same subnet as the freenas. Because of a new update, we can't use it anymore, so we created a new ftp server outside of our environment, but it is still not working. The freenas and the equipement it needs to connect to is not on the same subnet, confirming my initial hypothesis.

tl;dr: If your freenas ftp server is not on the same subnet as you, can you still access it?
