Let me give you a bit of background first: I am running Vmware 5.1 via 3 hosts and a SAN - communication between the hosts and the SAN is dealt with by 2 x NETGEAR 1Gbps Switches which are off the network.
I have built a physical box with FreeNAS 9.1.1 which currently connects to the network and I am in the process of punting over my backup's to this location.
I am wondering however if I can use the physical NETGEAR switches as they are off the network for backups as I think it will be a bit faster. My FREENAS box has 4 physical network cards, is it possible to use one card for management on the network and team the other 2/3 purely on the dedicated off network switches?
Let me know if this is confusing, I know I haven't explained this very well!
Regards,
John
