Long time lurker, first time poster. My FreeNAS is as follows.

Z75 pro3 motherboard
Thermaltake 450w power supply
2610sa cerc 1.5
2500k cpu
Usb boot drive
6 drives

So I rebuilt my FreeNAS with that motherboard because I wanted to add a second 2610. My previous board didn't have two slots. It all worked fine with 1 card in the previous motherboard but now the following happens.

The cerc card loads at bios, can boot to the controller. When FreeNAS loads, in the web ui, it doesn't see anything no matter how I configure the drives (individual volumes or in a raid).

If I am correct that is an actual Hardware Raid Controller and is NOT capable of using IT/JBOD Mode. As well, I also think that card is limited to only seeing drive space up to 2.2 TB.

(individual volumes or in a raid)
If you were configuring your drives on this card as either of those in the past... Don't...

I would recommend that you acquire a true HBA (LSI 9211) or cards that can be cross-flashed (IBM M1015 or Perc H200).

Found a similar problem on the forums that got me some progress.

Code:
[root@freenas ~]# camcontrol devlist

<SanDisk Cruzer Fit 1.27> at scbus7 target 0 lun 0 (pass1,da0)

[root@freenas ~]# dmesg | grep controller

So that aac0 error is the culprit. Bearing in mind that this was working before i swapped the motherboard. I updated the bios but still getting this. Trying to get the bios into legacy mode is my next step unless someone has a better idea. "buy new hardware" isn't an answer when this stuff has worked in the past.

Whether or not it "worked in the past" is meaningless when that consisted of working in an unsupported manner. Your data, your choice; however do not expect any sympathy if your data is lost. There is a reason why the contributors have gone to great lengths providing data on what hardware to use and what hardware not to use.

Sure, and I appreciate that. It's just not an issue for me. If I cared about my data I wouldn't have cobbled this thing together from the junk laying around my lab. And that raid card may not be suggested by FreeNAS but it's is supposed to supported by free-bsd.
