Understood. I might just add it to my Desktop then.

However, no one is really explaining why ZIL wouldn't be a good idea from a performance stand point wouldn't it allow for faster writes to a z2 raid?

The ZIL is only used for sync writes. Typically, you only see those with NFS or iSCSI.
