Thanks for humoring a noob quesiton....

If I have a home webserver running on Debian that serves out a personal website, can I somehow install FreeNAS into the same machine so both FreeNAS and my web service are active simultaneously?

Can this be done WITHOUT installing FreeNAS as a VM?

Thanks for your help.

Short answer, without laughing at you since it is a good question, no, you cannot.

Short answer long (abreviated): You could replace Debian with FreeBSD and configure it youself, skipping FreeNAS. That would be the best way but indeed not the easiest or the short answer you asked us for.

In a few months FN8 will get develloped more so us homeusers get more useabitity on top of a sound and secure filesystem.

Thanks. To clarify, you're saying its not possible to install them together, but it IS still doable to run FreeNAS as a VM from within Debian right? I'm thinking of trying Virtual Box at this point.
