I am running FreeNAS-11.0-U1 (aa82cc58d) and I have installed Ubuntu 17 as a VM and have it running great.

I installed VNC Connect on the guest as this is what we use internally. Works great, my team sees it, but unfortunately, I am only able to get 1024 x 768 out of the screen resolution.

My VM instance is running 8GB RAM and 50GB HD. I tried bumping the RAM up but to no avail.

Hopefully, I am missing something simple, or am I forever stuck at 1024 x 786?

Any ideas on breaking the 1024 x 768 barrier...?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure 1024x768 is the current resolution limit for now with bhyve.

Thanks @scrappy

I had thought it was 1920 x 1200 based on the post and this post.

Is this not the same bhyve that we are running under FN11?

Thanks!

Don't think the resolution support has been hooked up to the UI yet. Feature Request?

@dlavigne Thanks. I do want to make sure that I am talking about the right thing here.

I AM NOT talking about using VNC to connect to the VM console used for doing the install, etc. I am talking about using Real VNC Connect running in the VM itself to connect to the desktop of installed and running instance of Ubuntu 17 Desktop.

Since I do not know much about how bhyve (and VMs in general) manage hardware, I just wanted to make sure I was explaining it correctly. Once I installed the Ubuntu desktop, I no longer VNC to the IP address of my FreeNAS server but rather the IP address of my installed VNC Connect (the cloud based service) and that is where my resolution issue is right now.

Will the update you linked to in 11.1 (23894) fix this issue as well? Is it all part of the overall screen resolution of the VM itself?

Thanks
