I wanted to share my experience in the hope it would help someone else down the road.
Freenas system:
Freenas 11.2
Asrock mtb G41C-GS
8 Gigs of RAM
4 WD 2TB drives
I was running 9.3 without any issues. Using an old laptop drive with 140 gigs as my usb boot drive. No issues. As always, if it ain't broke...no need to update it!! Well I ignored that and wanted to get to the current 11.2 version. I upgraded to 9.10 then 11.1 then 11.2. No issues...till I rebooted for the second time. Suddenly I got the BTX loader halt. Tried a fresh install and no help. Did a fresh kill on the old boot drive to make sure it was clean. Still no luck. Eventually I took a new Adata 16 gig usb stick for my boot drive and voila, no BTX Loader Halt. Hope it helps someone. I'm far from a linux expert, so it quite while to figure it out.
