Ok, so I just ended up adding "kldload linux64" as a pre-init command through the GUI in the startup/shutdown script section and that seems to have done the trick.

The proper way to do this is as a loader tunable
linux64_load="YES" in System->Tunables.

Likewise with
linprocfs_load="YES" and linsysfs_load="YES".
