Hi There..

A short introduction.. my name is Rich, and I do stuff.. Windows Stuff, Linux Stuff, FreeBSD stuff, OS/X Stuff, whatever... sometimes I program but I'd never call my self an actual programmer. I work in IT and mucking around with stuff and get distracted by these evil beings I call CLIENTs who won't ever let me play because they use ALL MY TIME.. FreeBSD is nifty, I make my own custom pfSense routers and theme the gui, and add in nice Intel S3500 SSD drives and enable TRIM and stuff in the kernel.. or sometimes I even fix things like that Widescreen Theme I missed for a while. https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=ql76kcgbrfn6ol3onc5bbkblm5&topic=62410.0

I'm the guy with the lowest post count who lurks all the time, and makes a post once in a while if I have something worthwhile to share.

So what do you have that's worthwhile Rich? Glad you asked!! I just made a video of my FreeNAS box I built running on 2010 Spare Parts (Well most of them spare anyway, a few I had to chase down) clocking in at 950MB/s CIFS performance to a Windows 8 client. The CPU in my NAS was purchased for only $99 on eBay (I guess I'm proud of that $99 XEON I slapped in my crusty old discontinued socket 1366 motherboard.)

Anyway, I guess I'm off to post that video.. heck maybe I was dreaming and I wasnt really getting 950MB/s CIFS copy speed with FreeNAS 9.2.1.3 with a low powered 2.26Ghz XEON from the year 2010.. you be the judge. :) Link Forthcoming!
