I have a few external hard drives - ExFAT format would like to mount on FreeNAS server (FreeNAS-11.2-U4.1) and transfer all the files from the external drive (via USB) to the FreeNAS server. Can anyone please give me some guidance. Thank you.

The concept you're talking about is "Import Disk".

It looks as though you're out of luck there though as exFat isn't supported... ext4, Fat32, NTFS...

Your best bet is to rsync from another box connected to the disk over the network.

How about installing a VM or PlugIns that can support exFAT and use rsync command to transfer? Please recommend. Thank you.

Should work. I'm not an expert so someone else needs to answer.

If no one answers I'd recommend you started with finding a VM/plugin that you can pass your raw disk/HBA to, easily. And then choosing how to share: SMB or rsync natively...
