After recent software update I'm getting those error messages:

The following Inconsistencies were found in your Current Install:

List of Files/Directories/Symlinks not Found:
/compat/linux/proc/.donotremove

List of Permission Errors:
/compat/linux/proc Expected MODE: 0755, Got: 0555

Is there any particular reason for them? Also how can I fix them?

Thanks

The reason you are getting those error messages is exactly what they say. You are missing a file, and the permissions are set incorrectly on another.

The usual cause of these kind of errors is either an error during upgrade (not super common, but not unheard of either) or a bad USB drive (which I have to assume, because you haven't posted any hardware specs).

The easiest solution for generic install problems is to backup your config file, wipe your boot device, reinstall FreeNAS, and import your config. In this particular case, you can probably manually change the permissions, but I don't know off the top of my head what the .donotremove file is.

I suspect this is an update "software" error because I just did the update and now I have the same exact 2 problems...

Same here. Also, whilst the system is on the latest version the update service claims that I need to activate the current version on boot. This is already on the right version and seems to be booting into it.

As nobody seems to care, I rollbacked to 9.10 and the errors are gone.
I'll wait until next upgrade

I updated my 'test' server to 9.10.1 a few days ago, and I get this same error too.

The same problem here.

The following Inconsistencies were found in your Current Install:

List of Files/Directories/Symlinks not Found:
/compat/linux/proc/.donotremove

List of Permission Errors:
/compat/linux/proc Expected MODE: 0755, Got: 0555

I upgraded from 9.3 to 9.10 and my current build is FreeNAS-9.10.1 (d989edd).
I've never manually edited any files.

Everyone is posting this error but has anyone filed a bug report? The devs don't hang out here looking for bugs, they get them from the tracker.

On this note, I'd like to ask, how can one TURN OFF the updates?

Regards

As I understand no fix was done for the issue?

The bug reports that it was supposed to be made RFR (ready for release) in 9.10.1-u1.

You should try installing U2.
