Error setting passphrase for encrypted pool

I have a fresh install of FreeNAS-11.2-U7 and I have just created an encrypted pool with two drives in a mirror. On the Storage->Pools page I click the padlock on the right for the pool, and select Create Passphrase. I type the passphrase twice and click the "Create Passphrase" button, at which point I get a pop-up messages that says:

"Error creating passphrase for pool datatank"

No matter what passphrase I type, I always get the same error message. There are no messages on the console or in any log that I can find.

What am I missing?

There was a release note on encryption limitation when passphrase is used were system dataset is on the encrypted pool for Freenas 11.3, just curious if it is related.

I think I saw that release note. However, in this case the system is installed on its own physical disk. The encrypted pool is on disks that are for storage only.
