Hey guys,

I have 4 HDDs on my onboard SATA-Controller and a small SSD on an additional SIL 3512-A controller.
I want to install freeNAS on the small SSD, unfortunately this is the disk which is not listed.
While booting there is an error-message:
(ata2) freenas ata identify error 5.

Any idea?

freenas 9.3 stable.
the troubleshooting doesn't help me.
The installer-iso is on a USB-stick which I can boot from. The installer starts normally but when I have to select the drive I want to install on, my SSD is not visible.

If it's not a BIOS setting, it may be a probing issue and there are some fixes to this since RELEASE. Does installing the latest STABLE fix it?

I'm gonna bet your SIL controller isn't compatible with FreeBSD.

That controller is so old it has drivers for Windows 98!
