Hi! i have 4 drives.
3 x 250 gb
and 1 other size.

When i set up my volume i can add all 4 disks , 1 stripe and 3 raidz.
How does this work? if one of the raidz disks fails it can be replaces? But not if its the striped one?

You should read cyberjock's guide, linked in my sig. It'll cover this and many other basic questions regarding ZFS.

If you make a pool with one RAIDZ1 vdev and one other lone drive, losing the lone drive immediately kills your whole pool.

Loss of a vdev is unrecoverable, therefore vdevs must be reliable.

Quick quiestion before i do.. if i set up a freenas with raidz 4 x 4 tb and want to change to larger disks later , maybe 1 larger at a time. Is that i good idea?

Good idea? Depends on what you hope to accomplish. Vdevs are always limited by the size of the smallest drive they contain, but pools autoexpand if you replace all the drives in a vdev with larger ones.

What size is the 4th drive? You have the option of clicking the Manual setup button and using all four in one RAIDZ1 or RAIDZ2 vdev ... or a pair of 2-way mirrors.
