Dell Docking Station Not Recognized

All,
I'm trying to get FreeNas up and running. I've got a Dell Lattitude E5500 loaded with FreeNas, and want to attach an eSATA drive to it. The laptop doesn't have any eSATA ports, but the docking station does (as well as having the GigE port).

I cannot get FreeNas to recognize anything on the dock. Its getting power from there, but it doesn't see the ethernet port nor the eSATA port.

Any ideas?

I don't understand the obsession of using a laptop with USB/esata drives as a NAS. So unpredictable and unreliable.
