Hello,
our company has some Dell PowerEdge 1950 Blades which currently are not in use. The configuration is almost equal: XEON 1.6GHz, 4GB, 2x36GB SAS @Raid1 (HW-Raid Controller with 256MB Cache) and Multi-Port GbE. The Raid1 volume has a sequential read/write speed ~300MB/s. This should be enough performance to saturate the GbE connetion for iSCSI-Targets...i thought...
But my first tests with FreeNAS result in a relatively poor write speed of ~60MB/s while at least the read speed saturates the connection constantly with ~110MB/s over a 30GB extent. By the way, a device extent does not differ in r/w-speed.
What's the problem? If you need any further information please tell me.
Regards
MT
