Got an error today: "The boot volume state is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected."
Zpool Status:
I want to know what I need to do now. Do I need to replace the Boot Drive? If it needs replacing is the process made difficult because of the encrypted pool? Is this a good time to move to a non-encrypted pool and/or to switch to freenas 10?
I'd also like to make a better backup. Currently most files exist secondarily on one external or another, but they are all horribly disorganized. My thoughts were to get some kind of JBOD enclosure and a couple of 8tb seagate archive drives. One problem is that I've made heavy use of hardlinks, the current data uses 12TB of space on the Freenas box, but manually dragging it to externals would require over 20TBs of space. I've also had some problems in windows with file paths being to long and not copying when trying to backup.
In short: How bad is this error and can it be fixed, and how do I go about making a full backup.
