CP not updating

When attempting to use cp's updating feature, update fails with error File "/usr/pbi/couchpotato-amd64/lib/python2.7/zipfile.py", line 1079, in _extract_member os.mkdir(targetpath) OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/db/couchpotato/cache/temp_updater/CouchPotatoServer-master'

permissions for the temp_updater folder are media:media drw-rw-rw. Afaik the couchpotato os runned by user media

What am I missing here?

not sure why this would fail, because like you said CP's user owns that directory.
I would check the CP forums/github, might be a known issue, or you could post a new issue.

I'm having the same issue.
During the update, the 777 permissions on temp_updater get changed to this:

root@couchpotato:~ # ls -hal /var/db/couchpotato/cache/ | grep temp_updater
d---rwxrwx 2 media media 2B May 26 10:44 temp_updater

Nay. Tried another update just now via CP-GUI, update starts but stops after few seconds, but "no updates available". Which is nice.
