Hello

I installed following FreeNAS release into my server

FreeNAS release information as follows
9.3-RELEASE-p13 FreeBSD 9.3-RELEASE-p13 #3 r281084+fbfa186: Thu Apr 9 19:18:25 PDT 2015root@build3.ixsystems.com:/tank/home/jkh/build/FN/objs/os-base/amd64/tank/home/jkh/build/FN/FreeBSD/src/sys/FREENAS.amd64 amd64

I configured 14 RAID volume from 14 HDD. I mean that each RAID volume has only 1 drive
LSI RAID adapter tells me that everything ok with RAID volumes, no errors, no consistency problem etc..
All HDDs are identical
RAID adapter is LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-161
RAID adapter firmware 2.130.393.2551

But FreeNAS detected only 13 RAID volume like following lines

[root@freenas.local] ~# dmesg | grep mfid
mfid0 on mfi0
mfid0: 1907200MB (3905945600 sectors) RAID volume (no label) is optimal
mfid1 on mfi0

mfid12 on mfi0
mfid12: 1907200MB (3905945600 sectors) RAID volume (no label) is optimal

Do you have any solution how can I recognize the 14. RAID vol?

Thanks

I have better advice...

From https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/hardware-recommendations-read-this-first.23069/

Random RAID controllers that are operating in RAID mode (showing virtual or logical devices to FreeNAS) are a very bad idea. If your controller costs more than a few hundred dollars, it may not be a good choice for FreeNAS.

If the controller you want to use is an Adaptec, Dell Perc, Highpoint, or some no-name brand you shouldn't even try to use them. All of these may or may not "work" but you'll find out later they don't properly handle SMART monitoring, SMART testing, passing of errors from the disk to the system, etc. Don't put your data at risk and go with *any* of these brands. You can thank us for saving your data later.

If you are using a Dell Perc and think that when we say "JBOD" we mean RAID0 of single disks, you are in error. JBOD is not the same as a RAID0 of a single disk, and you are making a grave error by thinking otherwise.

So yeah, you are already in "fail" territory by mixing hardware RAID with ZFS. This is a recipe for disaster.

Got it and I know RAID0 is not equal with JBOD but If I did not configure RAID 0 Volume, FreeNAS could not detect HDDs as JBOD disks

Do you have any other recommendation ? :)

Well, yeah. Ditch the 9260 and go with a LSI HBA off the "known to work swimmingly well" list.

That should have been your clue that your hardware shouldn't be used. Is that logical conclusion not obvious with the post I quoted? If not, please tell me what I should say because I do not want people to keep thinking that doing RAID0 of individual disks is somehow a good thing. It's a terrible idea. It may be one of the most devastating ideas you can possibly do to a FreeNAS server.

^^^ that.
