Converted Thecus 7710 NAS to FreeNAS

I had a Thecus 7710 NAS that was hacked via the samba cry attack. I did not trust Thecus to patch their OS effectively so I decided to install FreeNAS on the Thecus hardware instead. The process was extremely easy. I was able to install FreeNAS onto the Thecus SATA DOM with no problem:

1. Create USB containing FreeNAS installer
2. Boot Thecus and hold F5 key
3. Indicate USB key as boot device
4. Indicate SATA DOM as install destination

Everything works smoothly.
