Hi,
on my reporting tab it says that I have constant traffic (RX average 20 kBit/sec) even though I am not accessing the server. It is the em0 port and also the bridge0 port. I notice frequent hard drive read accesses, that is probably detrimental to the durability of the hard drives.

I am running FreeNAS-9.2.1.9-RELEASE-x64 on a Dell T20 Xeon machine.

Where is this constant traffic coming from? I had the impression that it comes from the plexmediaserver but even if I turn this off the traffic is still there.

Thank you

Use sockstat(1) to check on your connected sockets. For example sockstat -c -L -4 -6. That will give you an idea of what other computers your FreeNAS is talking to.
If you want to know more about the data that is exchanged, use tcpdump(1) to see the traffic.

Constant drive activity is normal, due to the .system dataset. It is not harmful to the drives, unless they're parking their heads too much.
