Complex Scenario need some advice

Hello to everybody
I need some advice cause i have a rather "complex" situation and i want a future proof solution...
The facts are :

1. Dell server (R610) with 2xX5650 and 2x300GB /48Gb memory /4port NIC/...lets call it SVR610
2. Dell server (OLD) 2800 with 2xXEON 3.2 GHZ /3x74 GB /8GB /2port NIC...lets call it SRV2800
3. A DAS -- HP storageworks 5314B 14x500 7.2K...FB 4GB Qlogic
4. A EQL 4100X SAN..

The sure thing is that i will connect the SRV610 to the SAN....so 2 NICs for iscsi and 2 Nics for VMs & management
Then there are 2 options....

• use SRV2800 -- FreeNas -- DAS connected .....or
• virtualize FreeNas on SRV610 and passthrough QLogic to connect the DAS...

Which option will be the best....main concern is stability...the DAS is going to cover Backups and Test but i see a LOT of good reports that probably i will get great performance so maybe it will steal a piece out of the SAN's glory...
By the way with either scenario lets assume that after a couple of months i get a hold on a new server (nothing fancy) just more powerfull than SRV2800....can i keep the configuration of the DAS and just attach it to the New Server....

I knew it was more complex than the usual but not even one hint....never mind i will choose option 1
