From what I've read, this card Chelsio S310E-CR should just work and be recognized, but I don't see it available on my freenas system. I am new to all of this, so would really appreciate some help in troubleshooting this.

My motherboard is a Supermicro A1SAi-2750F and the Chelsio is in the only PCIe slot it has.

My understanding is that this card would use the cxgb driver which appears to be loaded. When I do a
kldload cxgb it says:
kldload: can't load cxgb: module already loaded or in kernel

That means it is already running/loaded. Out of curiosity, what exactly is it that makes you think that it is not there and available?

Not available because it did not show up as one of the network adapters when I did a "ifconfig"

Got my answer:
In the Supermicro BIOS, under PCIe/PCI/PNP settings, there is this option: "PCIe Slot 1 Bifurcation" ... the default is "[Auto]" or one may choose "[X4X4]".

Choosing "[X4X4]" now allows the Chelsio nic to be seen by the system and FreeNAS recognizes it and I can configure it.

Thanks!
