Don't quote me on that ( haven't done any tests) but AFAIK the boot option ROM is needed in order to boot from a disk attached to the HBA.
If while flashing your 9211 card you didn't install it, then it can't boot from a drive attached to it.

May be correct, the LSI came out of a box that I was testing from a seller who agreed to make a "FreeNAS Turn-Key" setup. I have actually reverted things back already. Perhaps when I have time later I will double check that and/or pop in a cross-flashed Perc H200 that I know has the Boot ROM.

If it has the option rom (and option roms are not disabled in your bios) then you will see a rather long winded bootscreen startup.

Ie press ^c to enter configuration
