Hi all,

So i try to install it on a system.
At the install i see a strange error gpart: arg0 'ada0': Invalid argument.

Hmm my usb drive is broken and i try 6 other usb drives from 8 to 32 gb
Kingston, datasave, Hama enz enz

All the same error in the beginning off the install.
It looks if the install is OK but NO.

After reboot the system hangs on de USB drive en does nothing at all.
If i remove the USB drive the systen starts agean?

I dont know what to do.

P.s. All the usb drivers work fine is i make them booteble with rufus-1.4.12
on the same system.

Which version of FreeNAS? Are you installing from CD or USB?

Sounds like a BIOS setting, see the 9.3 docs for some troubleshooting tips. Also, don't install 10, it is experimental.

That board is not appropriate for FreeNAS. Time for better hardware.

FreeNAS is not intended to repurpose 10 yr old hardware, despite the many blogs and videos stating otherwise. The FreeNAS those articles and videos are most likely referring to is actually nas4free. If they are recommending current iterations of FreeNAS, then they don't know what they are talking about....

That's all very well, but if your system was working perfectly with 9.2xxxx and then it's not working with 9.3 then it is a bit annoying to say the least.

I see nothing in this thread about it working before....

Well you do now: my system was working perfectly using 9.2xxx. There were no warnings about 9.3 being unable to boot from USB so I attempted the 'upgrade' in the expectation it would work. Now I find that my system won't boot using a USB stick as the boot device (freezes the computer completely) but will boot using an SSD connected to SATA port.

Is there some reason you are trying to high jack this thread?

You are not the OP

Neither are you.
No. I'm a moderator here. If you have an issue, please make your own thread.

Lose the snark

EDIT: If you would take notice, I responded to the fact that the OP has inadequate hardware. That is relative to this topic. Your issue is something else entirely and you need to take it up in your own thread.
