I managed to join my FreeNAS 8.0.2 box to our active directory.
I also managed to setup a ZFS data set that I allowed all used to have access and share that as CIFS share. So far so good. (read, write, execute allowed for owner, group and others for the ZFS data set)

Now I created a second ZFS data set for a group only. I set the owner to "ad\admin" and the group to "ad\research". Both options were pulled from the drop-down list of available users and groups pulled from my ad.
I want this data to be accessible ONLY to the "research" group. But when I set the permissions to only allow "read, write, execute" to owner and group and nothing to others I can't browse the share - even though I am member of the research group.

Only when I allow read and execute for "others" can I map the drive. That defeats the point. I want only members of the "research" group to be able to access the mapped drive and data.

Is this a bug in FreeNAS 8.0.2?

Thanks for the help.
