Cannot get Time Machine to work

OK, I'm not a techy - but this was a problem that bugged me for several weeks. I could not get my macbook to see my time capsule. I solved it by updating the software on the time capsule. After the software on the time capsule was updated, the mac and time capsule immediately found each other. There are a whole bunch of complicated solutions out there for this problem (most of which I had trouble understanding) but this simple action fixed the issue. Good luck.

@banana freckle, does your post have anything to do with using FreeNAS? Because it doesn't sound like it does. FreeNAS is a free network-attached storage operating system that can act as a Time Machine backup location, and that's what this thread is discussing. A Time Capsule wouldn't be involved in any way.

OK, just delete it. I guess I didn't understand the forum. I just wanted to help others with a problem that had bothered me for some time. thanks
