I finally got it up and going just trying to add home assistant as a jail and I don't see home assistant in the list

You write "jails", so I assume you are running TrueNAS CORE now and not TrueNAS SCALE? TrueNAS CORE is FreeBSD based and does not have a native Home Assistant implementation. You will probably have to install HA in a VM. Create e.g. a Ubuntu VM and use docker compose to deploy.

I think i'm using TrueNAS CORE.

The screenshot you posted was SCALE. So did you start over with CORE instead? If yes the only way to run Home Assistant is inside a Linux VM.

P.S. the edition is in the upper left corner of the UI.
