Hi, i am new to Freenas and had built a Freenas successfully. However i keep getting these network errors, after running freenas for a while. (eg 1 or 2 days).

Apr 9 22:05:22 freenas mDNSResponder: mDNS_Register_internal: ERROR! Tried to register AuthRecord 0000000800C2FD60 freenas.local (Addr) that's allready in the list.

Apr 9 22:05:22 freenas mDNSResponder: mDNS_Register_internal: ERROR! Tried to register AuthRecord 0000000800C30180 253.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa. (PTR) that's allready in the list.

After these errors the Freenas seem to be still working but disconnect from the rest of the network.

I am not sure if it is a router issue or freenas.

Advise appreciated.

CB.

This message is a known issue with mDNSResponser, see Bug #4151.
It shouldn't cause any net work disconnects though (I get those as well).

So I suspect your problem is elsewhere in the network.

I get these too. No harm, no foul, though---they don't seem to be causing a problem. Ironically, in 9.1.1, there was a message nagging you because you *WEREN'T* using mDNSresponder, if memory serves.

Thanks, but somehow my just disconnect itself from the network and the errors appeared. There is an instant where errors were repeat 13 time. Cant even ping the Freenas. it just freezed. Mouse and keyboard not repsonding.

I think i need more logs to determine the error. Any ideas where to start for "pest controls" ha ha.

I am really new to all this freenas. But it fun. Too bad i still don't have the confident to store data on it due to the above issue. sigh.

I get plenty of those mDNS messages before decrypting the main pool.

You didn't state your FreeNAS version or hardware.

Starging from 9.2.1.x you should have a .system dataset on your pool with logs in it. If it's not there you can activate it in advanced settings.

Sorry about that, initially I thought I have nailed it with the errors, but apparently it not, that is why I didnt post my config

Code:
ssh root@<ip-of-your-freenas-machine>
cd /mnt/<name-of-your-pool>/.system/syslog

For this you need to have SSH and root login enabled. The first line can be alternatively be replaced by using a GUI SSH tool like Putty (for Windows). I'd definitely recommend you to read a beginners guide on Linux Shell commands.

Two of your hard drives seem to have problems, or did you detach them manually?
If not, you should check SMART attributes, smart test results and check the sata cables.

Which hardware are you using and which FreeNAS version?
