Can Read, but cannot Write certain file types AFP

i have a volume with unix permissions, and a logged in user. there is 1 file type i can create, read but not write. it is created by my avid edit system and is their .avp project file. the file can be created but not modified.

the is connecting both smb or afp on osx,

anyone have any ideas? all other files created and saved by this application are fine.
