C2750D4I shared IPMI Lan?

Hi,

I'm using C2750D4I with two interfaces. One for IPMI dedicated, other for LAN1.

I'll move the server to another room to get rid of the sound from UPS. But I can only move 1 cable from the router to the new room.

Currently LAN1 interface is connected via Gigabit ethernet with 192.168.1.251.
IPMI interface is connected via a 100 Mbit router and assigned 192.168.1.250.

I currently set it to Dedicated.

So, if I set it as shared and disconnect IPMI interface, can I still connect to IPMI and LAN interface like they're on different interfaces?

Yes.

IPMI interacts with select Intel NICs (mostly the i210AT) to multiplex one NIC between the host and IPMI.

From a user's perspective, it's like having a three-port switch connected to both ports.
