Hi Guys,

I have a HP 320 G5 with a USB CD-ROM Drive.

I installed Free NAS FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-p1-x64 to a 120GB SATA disk connected directly to the motherboard.

When the machine boots it stops with the message

Code:
ROOT MOUNT ERROR:
If you have invalid mount options, reboot, and first try the following at the loader prompt:

set vfs.root.mountfrom.options.rw

and then remove invalid mount options from /etx/fstab

Loader variables:
vfs.root.mount=ufs:dev/ufs/FreeNASs1a
vfs.root.mountfrom.options=ro

Manual root filesystem specification:
<fstype>:<device> Mount <device> using filesystem <fstype>
eg. ufs:/dev@da0s1a
eg. cd9660:/dev/acd0
This is equivalent to: mount -t cd9660 /dev/acd0 /

? List valid disk boot devices
<empty line> Abort manual input

A total guess i have is that it is trying to boot the os from a CD Drive, but I have no idea how to correct it.

Any help would really be great. Thanks guys.

I solved my issue by installing to a USB drive which I now boot and run this machine from.

For some reason, during the installation the drives were detected and successfully installed FREENas onto one drive. However, when it came to booting I had no joy.

When I installed to a USB drive i had no issues.

Not sure why? However, its all running which is all i really care about :)

Thanks guys
