Hi

Does anyone know if there is a way to control a Bitfenix Recon on a FreeNAS computer?

Kind Regards
Jakob

#2 It is a Fan-controller(as the subject says).
When a Moderator asks you a question like that, it should be a clue.

This device requires software to be installed on the operating system as that is how it is managed and 'connects to the internet'. This software can't run on the FreeNAS appliance.

What about installing in a windows VM (website has only win drivers)?
You may be able to pass the hardware through to a VM, but there are no guarantees. That might do it for you.

You might be able to install that in a jail or in a VM but FreeNAS is designed to be an appliance with minimal changes even possible and if you hacked FreeNAS enough to get this running directly without any abstraction layer, you would probably have to do it all over again when the next update comes out.

PS. FreeNAS is BSD, not Linux

Fan controllers like that are generally used on gaming systems. A NAS should not need it. The motherboard fan control should be adequate, possibly augmented with some switchable hi/med/low fixed fans or ones with temperature sensors.
