Bhyve and 10G networking between Host and VM

I'm running CentOS 7.4 on a FreeNAS 11.1 host. I'm using NFS to connect to the host to access the local dataset (is there a better way?). The speed appears to be limited to 1G, which is the speed of the host's physical adaptor. Is there a way for the host and vm to communicate faster, such as at 10G speeds? An internal virtual adaptor maybe?

Thanks

Coming from all sorts of experiences with vmware I can tell you that the short answer is no. You need a physical 10Gb adapter that you can pass-through to your VM using virtIO if you have the required CPU capabilities, I believe that for Intel CPUs you need VT-d.

Even on vmware the performance of a 10Gb vNIC is spotty without installing vmware tools.

Using a nic with virtio connected to tap0 to connect to the freenas host with NFS.
Quick test now, I got 340MB/sec over NFS to host so clearly more than 1G network.

In theory, would it be possible to add 10 1gb nics and bond them is a easy/cheesy workaround solution?
