Hi,
I'm running freenas 8.0 (the one after RC5) and it's been great for many months. I even got transmission working on it and all was good. It running from a USB drive, with physical SATA disk for the data (i honestly can't remember how many disks, might just be one)
However, there was a power cut today and now when the machine boots it posts then presents

Code:
F1 FreeBSD
F2 FreeBSD
F5 Drive 1

F6 PXE
Boot: F1
/

it then restarts on it's own after 4 seconds

If i choose any of the options i get
Code:
FreeBSD/x86 boot
Default: 0:ad(0,a)/boot/loader
boot:

I press enter and it restarts.

any ideas?

I've tried unplugging it for a couple of minutes, but no change

I'm pretty sure that it has been power cycled without issue but can't actually remember when.

Your USB memory has been corrupted, or fried. Someone else reported something very similar.

Now would seem like a good time to upgrade to 8.0.1-RELEASE on a freshly minted memory stick (minimum 2GB).

Hopefully you have a current configuration backup saved somewhere.
