API: Simple way to reboot jail

I am looking for a simple way to reboot a jail remotely. Have looked at the api but have not been able to get it to work. I found a way to do it from the cli and I can script that, but some posts say you shouldn't do that. I would prefer using the web api, but even being able to schedule a task to do it each morning would work.


Why do I need this???
I have an issue with one of my jails that runs some web services for my home automation. I am currently on travel for work for a few months and need a quick/reliable way to restart it so the wife doesn't keep getting made :)

What's wrong with using the restart jail function from the web GUI?

And what code did you try with the API and what error did you get?

1) Not going to give my wife access to web GUI
2) If I can get the api to work, then I can do stuff like monitor the status of the jail and restart it, add a button to my home automation app that will restart the jail and so forth.
