Hello, after upgrading 2 machines to 9.3 from 9.2.1.7, AD seems to have been lost in both cases. In Directory Service > Active Directory, I've entered my domain.local for Domain Name, an administrator's account & password, and checked the Enable box. Same settings as before, but now I get the error: "The service failed to restart."

wbinfo -u doesn't return any of my AD users.
Are there any known problems with AD as a result of this upgrade?

I don't see anything. The upgrade was yesterday 12/9. I can ping the DC by name, and the DC can ping this machine by name.

Thanks. I see that you now need to use SSL/TLS to connect to AD. How is that accomplished? And how does one determine what the idmap backend set to? Sorry, beginner here.

I should note that everything is good with the shares except for the AD authentication. I'm able to access the shares from the Windows machines as the FreeNAS root.

Good! I'm trying to get instructions on how to answer your comment #5 and will add them to the docs when I find out.

Actually, I was totally wrong about that. :( This has nothing to do with SSL/TLS and AD can't be configured that way. Just LDAP. I was over-generalizing from the LDAP case. Not sure what's going on here! The previously cited bug is now in John's queue.

I now recall that somewhere under System settings previously there was something to select which indicated use of AD. I can't seem to find it now. Could it be that I don't have that properly set now in addition to the configurations shown in the attached? I believe the attached are the only places in the current web interface where AD info appears. I'm beginning to suspect that I'm just missing something.

The thing I see on mine is if I do a wbinfo or run the cache.py of whatever its called I see my users so AD is responding. Its whatever seems to move that to passwd or groups that fails. i tried switching my idmap to RID as some suggested for similar issues but when I do and restart cifs it reverts back to tdb.
