Hi,

I'm not a tech guru but somehow managed to get FreeNAS running on our company's local are network. Also succeeded to make three different shares available for access from various Windows 7 computers.

Now I'm wondering is it possible to map those FreeNAS shares as network drives to my Win 7 computer at home with the help of puTTy? I tried things with puTTy and managed to get the admin GUI open up in my browser at home but had no luck with accessing the shares.

I hope you guys are not exposing your FreeNAS to the internet. That would be a huge risk. Also expose a share to the internet would mean open samba ports to it witch is also not a good idea.

Check the post above for other ways or set a private cloud, or a vpn. I use OwnCloud and OpenVPN at home for remote access, in my case, on my pfSense.
