The cdrom booted fine but when I installed to USB stick I get 'P%F)%' on the screen and it hangs. Never gets to a boot prompt.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks, -C

system hangs at "Boot: F1 [blinking cursor]"

I installed on a 124MB flash drive, because it suggested it. Now it boots to a screen that shows this:

F1 FreeBSD
F2 FreeBSD
F5 Drive 1

F6 PXE
Boot: F1

....and it just hangs there. Anything I type produces no results; the system is non-responsive no matter what I press.

Anyone?
Thanks!

A 124MB flash drive is not nearly enough for FreeNAS 8.0.4 - you need a proper 2GB drive for it to install and work properly. Please note that many drives (USB sticks, CF cards etc) advertise 2GB but are in fact have a little less capacity than that. To be safe, use a 4GB drive.

Be careful which section of the forums you're posting, questions don't belong in the HowTo area... ;)
