Hi there, I'm currently migrating all my Microsoft stuff to open source and I'm just at the point to migrate my Fileserver/NAS.
So this is the use-case:
The NAS will be used at my Home and needs lots of storage. My current Windows Server has 5*3TB in RAID5.
For the future i want to expand the available space and also the redundancy (to raidz3). I'm thinking about 5 more drives.
There around 2 Users (including me) and a download server accessing the NAS just for an imagination of the work load.
I just put some parts together and wanted to know from you if this will work or if you got better ideas:
Mainboard: Supermicro X9SCM-F
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C202_C204/X9SCM-F.cfm
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220v2
RAM: 32GB ECC RAM (probably Kingston)
Controller: Adaptec 71605H (16 Ports)
http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/products/series/7h/
Disks: 10x WD Red 3TB
A question about the RAM: Is ECC ok, or do you recommend ECC registered?
Will this setup work? Or will there be problems and i should better take other parts?
Thanks for your answers and excuse my (not perfect) English!
