With that much storage youll need 16GB of RAM, also, the G3240 is like $3 more on amazon than the G3220. Youll also want to mirror the boot drive to a second flash drive.

G3240 is haswell refresh and probably doesn't run ootb. for further information on X10 mobos: https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...d-to-buy-a-supermicro-x10-motherboard….25951/

RAM-wise buy 2x8GB DIMMs from the manufacturers tested memory list. only if you can't get any of those, buy the Crucial ram - running X10SLL-F boards with those, so far without a hitch.

all other stuff is just fine, e.g. onboard intel sata ports and such. if you want, you could pick the asrock E3C224D2I and use an ITX chassis like the Node 304.

The 3240 worked out of the box with the x10SLM+-F I got last month. I didnt think it was a refresh Pentium, I thought it was on the first releases.

A X10SLL-F does not fit into the Node 304. You need the ASRock E3C224D2I for that.

A X10SLL-F does not always run all Haswell Refresh CPUs. Not even with the newest BIOS, which still is not shipped standard from everywhere. If someone had actually bothered reading the thread I've linked, we wouldn't have this question...

Because those G3220's are now hard to find, for example, and people might be thinking that most of the Haswell refresh CPU's will work, when in fact, that's horse shit, even with the newer BIOS.

You may want to bump up to the X10SLM, you get the c224 chipset, and if you source from newegg it should work with the G3240. Its $10 more.
The node 804 is about an inch bigger in every direction and fits the x10 mobos.

I love my NAS, the pentium hasnt let me down for anything, even plex transcoding. The 3240 worked out of the box with the SLM+-F. Personally, I like the Fractal design Node 804. Its got plenty of room, and the hard drives are in a different cooling zone than the motherboard/cpu to keep temps down even more.

The 360 should be more than fine. the most my nas has drawn was around 82W when running badblocks on all 4 of my hard drives.
