I updated from FreeNAS 9.10 to 11.1-stable tonight and after the reboot, the dashboard flashes a message, in the top right-hand corner, when selecting it I see
“- smartd_daemon is not running.”
When going to the services tab in the webUI I click start for S.M.A.R.T while tailing /var/log/messages like so.
at the same time I click start this is generated twice
The drive in question, da0 is the bootable thumb drive for freenas. I have created two smart schedules via the WebUI 1 for long test and the other for short test, on both of these I’ve excluded da0 but still the service refuses to start. I would like very much to have the boot drive monitored as well and see what appears to be some support options for USB from the console when running.
=======> ARGUMENT REQUIRED FOR OPTION: d
=======> VALID ARGUMENTS ARE: ata, scsi, nvme[,NSID], sat[,auto][,N][+TYPE], usbcypress[,X], usbjmicron[,p][,x][,N], usbprolific, usbsunplus, intelliprop,N[+TYPE], 3ware,N, hpt,L/M/N, cciss,N, areca,N/E, atacam, auto, test <=======
so I tried
At this point I have no clue which additional option(s) I should select but so far the below just return various errors which basically indicate; I am not using the syntax correctly
If someone could help me get the smart service running on all drives including my boot drive great! But at this point any help just getting it to work with any drives in my zfs pool would be great.
Thanks,
Tim
